Spring has Sprung

Here we are, maple sugaring has drawn to a close with another great season for the Blackstone Valley Sugaring Association. Hundreds of people came by the farm to learn how to identify maple trees and how to tap and produce their very own maple syrup at home. The taps have been removed, and the buds are opening. New growth is starting to develop all across the state. The canals have finally thawed and the carp have become active again in order to get energy and ready for spawn.

With the thaws and spring rains have come flooding. Many of the rivers are unfishable in most areas with currents running excessively hard and many bank side spots have fallen under water for a time. This has found us spending a good deal of time on the canals. One of my first sessions was a huge success but not because of any carp that I caught, in fact I only caught one carp that session. I did however get into some great goldfish, one in particular that really stood out. Not only was it a new PB for me, but it was absolutely beautiful. Words will not do it justice so here you go!
