No Derby

Blackstone Carp will not be presenting the

Carp Fish and Fun Day this year.

Due to a fish kill along the canal at River Bend Farm this year Blackstone Carp has decided to cancel the derby for this season in order to alleviate stress on the existing stocks. Many mature fish were killed and as this is a closed waterway it may take years for smaller fish to grow to those sizes. Many fish still remain in the canals and we hope that they will continue to flourish.  The after math of the incident has led to low water levels, possibly lower oxygen levels, bacteria growth as well as many other factors that could make hooked and mishandled fish more prone to injury, illness or even death. It is for this reason that we have voluntarily chosen to avoid fishing this location the remainder of the year in order to give the fish time to recooperate. We urge all anglers to do the same to help ensure a great fishery into the future.

What is Blackstone Carp?

We are a group of dedicated catch and release carp anglers and National Parks Service Volunteers. Through Blackstone Carp events, workshops, derbies and this website we work with local groups and facilities to promote the sport of carp fishing. We strive to teach not only effective baiting and rigging techniques but also impart the importance of proper care , handling and release practices. Many workshops also focus on the history and ecology of carp and the many misconceptions about them.

This website was developed to enhance our events through-out the year by offering both written and video tutorials, news and articles pertaining to carp fishing and offer a place to showcase our video blogs. We firmly believe that by sharing our obsession, and trust us it is an obsession, we can help support and foster a future for carp and carp angling. That is our mission.
